There’s no better time to visit New England than late summer and early fall. We’re partial to the bustling city of Boston, in particular, which is brimming with history, charm, culture, and fine dining. And, Prudential Center is in the center of it all, located in the heart of Beantown’s oldest and most dynamic neighborhood. If you’re traveling to town and looking to get the most out of your time in the city, here are some ideas for how to spend the perfect day visiting Boston.
If your perfect day always starts with a morning run, Boston’s Esplanade could not be a more desirable route. The three-mile stretch of green space and walkways, just blocks from Prudential Center, hug the Charles River, so you’re guaranteed a run with a beautiful view.
If you’re up for a stroll, Boston Common and Public Garden are just a short walk from us and offer classic Boston sites like the Frog Pond, boat rides, and historic markers.
Whatever today’s adventure entails, you’re going to need a breakfast of champions. (Did we mention Boston was home to 39 pro sports championships? #Titletown)
Whether you’re looking to grab and go or enjoy an al fresco breakfast with bevvies, Pressed Cafe is the perfect option for a filling meal made with fresh, local ingredients.
Looking to linger over brunch before starting your day? Brunch at Terra inside of Eataly within Prudential Center is a true Boston experience.
The best way to take in all that Boston has to offer may be a city-wide tour — and one of the very best is just outside our doorstep. Boston Duck Tours traverse both land and water seven days a week from 10 a.m. until sunset. The conDUCKtors make touring fun and educational, so the whole family will enjoy.
If you’re a history buff, The Freedom Trail is a must-do. This 2.5-mile guided stroll passes 16 historic sites ending at Bunker Hill, and the trail head is just a mile away from Prudential Center.
Prefer to DIY? Major landmarks like the State House, Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, Christian Science Center, and Cheers are all within a 20-minute walking radius of The Pru.
You’ve spent your morning traversing the city, so we suggest pulling up a seat on the Earls Kitchen + Bar patio for some lunch. From sushi to steaks, Earl’s has something for everyone, plus a stellar list of craft cocktails.
If you’re looking for super laid back, grab a bowl from Clover Food Lab, CAVA, or DIG and head to South Garden. Fresh, locally sourced food in the sunshine may be the perfect quick respite from a busy morning visiting Boston.
Boston is home to some of New England’s finest museums and cultural attractions, and many are within short walking distance of Prudential Center.
The Mary Baker Eddy Library houses educational materials about the Christian Science founder’s life, ideas, and achievements. Inside, the Mapparium, a three-storey painted glass globe, offers a one-of-a-kind experience to the “middle of the world.”
Two of Boston’s must-visit museums, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, are less than a 20-minute stroll from The Pru. We recommend spending at least an hour — if not a whole afternoon — at each.
Of course, no trip to Boston is complete without some shopping!
Fortunately, Back Bay is home to several of the most iconic retail destinations in the country. Newbury Street and Copley Place, for example, are two of our famous neighbors. But, of course, we’re partial to the more than 60 shops and restaurants located at 800 Boylston. (Hint, hint: That’s us!)
At Prudential Center, shop designer brands like Mackage, Kate Spade, and Polo Ralph Lauren. Arrange a private shopping event at Saks Fifth Avenue. Peruse Peloton, Warby Parker, Vineyard Vines… The list goes on and on. Whatever you’re shopping for, The Pru offers your daily dose of discovery.
If you’re looking for a nighttime activity, there’s so much to be found nearby.
Symphony Hall is home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra but also hosts a number of musicians, speakers, and shows throughout the year. Check the schedule to find what events are happening while you’re visiting Boston.
And, what trip to Boston is complete without a visit to Fenway Park? Lucky for you, it’s just a 10-minute walk. Head over, grab a Fenway Frank, and watch the Red Sox in action — and make sure to notice the Prudential Center on the skyline. Parking is only $20 at The Pru during night and weekend games. Even if there’s not a home game during your visit, this historic ballpark also hosts concerts and events.
After a long day of playing tourist, of course, you’re going to need somewhere to rest up before starting all over again the next day. Fortunately, Prudential Center is attached to two of the finest hotels in the Boston area, the Sheraton and the Mandarin.
The Sheraton Boston offers a modern backdrop for work and play, with outstanding service and desirable on-site amenities like a fully equipped fitness room and outdoor pool. Rooms are equipped with Sheraton Sleep Experience Beds and sweeping views of Back Bay and the Charles River.
There’s a reason The Mandarin Oriental is one of Boston’s most lauded hotels: Guests consistently describe their stay as truly an exquisite experience. Awarded Forbes Five-Stars and AAA Five-Diamonds, The Mandarin is home to Boston’s first and longest running five-star-awarded spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
If you’re spending a few days with us — and we highly recommend you do — check this list again to create another whole day of adventure and discovery. We’re confident you’ll return home wicked glad that you did 😉
