Lights, camera, ACTION! Prudential Center’s free outdoor movie series returns to the South Garden every Saturday evening from July 13th and through August 24th. From classics to recent blockbusters, the movie selection is curated to appeal to audiences of all ages.
All movies begin at dusk, with music entertainment starting at 6PM. No pre-registration needed to attend!
Before grabbing a blanket (DICK’s House of Sport has some great options to choose from!), check out our guide on how to make your movie-viewing evening even more special. From on-theme outfits to bites inspired by the movies, the Center’s 15+ retailers and 20+ eateries are on hand to help create a star-worthy Summer Flicks set up!
First up in the series is everyone’s favorite pink-wearing Harvard law student! Shop like Elle Woods around Prudential Center, stopping at Boston Tops for some Harvard gear, perfecting the Ivy League-inspired style at Polo Ralph Lauren, or perusing the racks for the perfect pink outfit at Saks Fifth Avenue. No Legally Blonde-esque outfit is complete without some bling. Swarovski has the world’s highest quality crystal and gemstone earrings, bracelets, necklaces and more.
After all that shopping, you’re going to want a hot dog real bad! Shake Shack’s Flat-Top Dogs – split and griddled crisp to perfection – are just as noteworthy as its delicious made-to-order Angus beef burgers, crispy chicken, hand-spun milkshakes, and house-made lemonades. Shake Shack is conveniently located right off the South Garden for a to-go meal to enjoy during the movie!
Another strong female-led film continues the Center’s Summer Flicks series! Dressing like a superhero starts with a Shinola watch – our version of Marvel Universe’s Quantum Bands. All watches are made with the highest quality materials and are built to last to provide the wearer with the power of time. For something a bit more fashionable, a stack of Pandora charms and bracelets are reminiscent of Kamala Khan’s stack of Quantum Band bangles.
What’s a superhero without their armor? Head to Under Armour for a human version, that’s also comfy to watch a movie outside 😉. Top the ‘fit with a pair of Oliver Peoples eyewear. Similar to the characteristics of a Marvel superhero, each frame involves both state of the art machinery and the human touch in its intricate process.
Just like the movie, curate an outfit and picnic spread that shows that fire and water can work together!
Starting with the threads, everyone in the family will be able to find their perfect water-inspired outfit with vineyard vines’ nautical selections. Shop the store for polos, tees, shorts, skirts and dresses that transport you to the calming waves of the ocean. Spice up your outfit with a red-hot manicure from MiniLuxe or cool kicks from Allbirds. Allbirds is an industry leader who believes it’s possible to reverse climate change through better design that all in the family can also sport.
Now for the food! Anna’s Taqueria brings the heat with the fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, and expert assembly that go into each of our burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and Mexican bowls. The very spicy Chili Verde (braised pork roasted with a variety of hot peppers) is our choice for protein! For dessert, cool off with Cold Stone Creamery’s super-premium ice cream and sorbet that is made fresh on site every day. The countless combinations of sprinkles, cookies, fruits, and more are mixed-to-order on Cold Stone’s granite stone, which is chilled to 16 degrees Fahrenheit!
For a princess-inspired outfit, Aritzia showcases a variety of dresses for wearers who care about excellent design and exceptional quality – just like the hardworking and ambitious Tiana. The men’s offerings at Club Monaco are for every Prince Naveen looking to add updated classics and key fashion pieces to their wardrobe.
Before heading to the South Garden, pick up your to-go order from Earls Kitchen + Bar for some Cajun-inspired dishes. The Cajun Blackened Chicken is topped with confit garlic butter and served with warm potato salad and coleslaw. Order the chicken alongside the BBQ Ribs for a finger lickin’ good meal.
For an extra amphibious-filled day with the family, we suggest adding a Boston Duck Tour to your afternoon. All tours are approximately 80 minutes and depart/arrive outside of Star Market. The 4:30PM tour will get you back to Prudential Center in time for all the Summer Flicks festivities!
If we were to hypothetically steal the Declaration of Independence and then need a wardrobe change, you might find us shopping at Madewell for its premium denim, tees, boots, leather jackets and more for both women and men. In addition to great products and artful styling, Madewell also offers meaningful community initiatives that give back to our planet and its people. For something a bit more “presidential,” we’d head to OAK + FORT for its thoughtfully designed women’s and men’s apparel.
For a stately dinner, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is rooted in a rich American tradition. Order for pick-up USDA Prime wet and dry-aged steaks (including the 22 ounce Bone-in Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye), Broiled Alaskan King Crab, Prime Burger, and classic Iceberg Lettuce Wedge. The fan-favorite Butter Cake is also available for take out!
While the New England based family of ducks get a little off course in the movie, we’re inspired by their planned destination of Jamaica for our outfit. Johnny Was is perfect for an island outfit with its array of dresses and tops that convey effortless elegance and embrace a relaxed lifestyle. For food, we look to the movie’s theme of expanding horizons and being open to new friends, to curate a spread that touches different types of global cuisines, including: noodles from wagamama, Italian snacks from Eataly, and Mediterranean build-your-own bowls from CAVA.
Before migrating down to the South Garden for the movie, get a birds eye of the city from View Boston. Tickets are $10 for Child age 5 & under, $25 for ages 13 -65, and $23 for Seniors (65+). Save 20% on four tickets by purchasing the Family Pack!
For our last Summer Flick of the season, Janie and Jack will help kiddos find their own style voice. The children’s clothing brand features distinctive, finely crafted clothing and accessories for the little ones in your life from Preemie through 6 in shop – don’t forget to check out the adorable Disney line! For adults, Marine Layer makes responsibly made, vintage-inspired apparel (and the softest clothes that should definitely be part of your world!) for men and women. The Summer 2024 collection is inspired by the smooth, glamorous spirit of Yacht Rock legends; we even see some takes of our own mermaid star of the evening in the collection!
Keeping with the sea theme, both Porto and Eddie V’s have excellent dishes that showcase products from under the sea that are also available to-go! From Porto, we recommend the shrimp cocktail and Lobster Roll. Add a bit of decadence to your movie-watching experience with the help of Eddie V’s and order the Royal Ossetra Petrossian Caviar (served with warm blinis and cooling crème fraîche ) and Cold Water Lobster (Two Cold Water Lobster Tails broiled to perfection and served with warm, drawn butter).
