Summer in the City returns to Prudential Center! All summer long, take a lunch break in the South Garden while enjoying the complimentary performances from Berklee College of Music’s talented students. Concerts run June 13th through August 29th and are brought to us by Boston’s premier institute of music and the performing arts.
Grab a blanket, order lunch from one of the Center’s restaurants and shops, and enjoy the diverse musical stylings of the Berklee Summer in the City performers. The South Garden can be accessed across from sweetgreen and Shack Shack or next to Blue Bottle.
Meet the artists below, who each take the stage on Thursdays at 12PM!
Dipsea Flower is a Folk-Rock band founded in Northern California and based in Boston. Their music has a vintage California feel that is heavily inspired by the nature and nostalgic tone of the West Coast. With catchy melodies and soulful harmonies, Dipsea Flower is high energy and feel-good. Perfect for a relaxing mid-day break!
Mari Sitzmann is a twenty-one-year old singer/ songwriter born and raised in the Bay Area, California. Mari is known for her soft and airy voice accompanied by guitar. She enjoys writing songs of indie and folk in nature and her ability to tell a story through her songs is unmatched. She values the way a story is portrayed in a song through how it’s sung.
Srisley (Yae-Seul Kim) was immersed in a musical environment from an early age, surrounded by family members who were accomplished musicians themselves. At just 11 years old, the South Korean born pianist and composer made her debut on KBS, showcasing her immense talent of Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu. Since then she has held various musical positions from music director to solo artist to an ensemble performer. With the “Srisley Trio,” Srisley has performed at notable events like the Cheongnamdae Jazz Tonic Festival and various jazz bars in Seoul.
In 2020, she released her debut album, followed by another under Universal Music in 2022. Her achievements led her to earn a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music, where she has thrived as a performer and composer. Srisley’s commitment to musical excellence continues as she explores both traditional and contemporary influences in her compositions, ensuring a lasting impact on the world of music.
Henry Patterson is a Massachusetts-raised singer-songwriter who makes honest pop music that touches on the side effects of growing up gay in a small town. Inspired by more alternative pop artists like Lennon Stella and Jeremy Zucker, as well as by 2000s soft rock bands like The Script and The Fray, he blends his favorite influences from his upbringing with contemporary sensibilities.
With three singles already released – “The Joke,” “Buzzcut,” and “Heavy Kind of Feeling” – and a debut EP in the works, Henry’s first body of work delves into navigating identity and relationships in the digital age. Currently in his third year at Berklee College of Music, he is studying songwriting while also looking ahead to his upcoming projects and evolving artistry.
Twenty-year-old Jessie Starnes is a singer/guitarist from the coast of Washington state. Inspired by artists like Maggie Rogers, Noah Kahan, and Del Water Gap, her music is a singer/songwriter-indie-new age folk blend. With a passion for both performing and music business, she has performed across the Boston music scene while simultaneously working for the Creative Partnerships team at 1824, Universal Music Group. Currently studying at Berklee College of Music, she is completing her degree in Professional Music, with concentrations in Music Business / Songwriting, alongside a minor in Recording & Production.
She is currently hoping to enter the songwriting scene post graduation while she continues to perform and manage her solo career. Shamelessly honest, her hope is that her listeners feel a little less alone. With sweet melodies and lyrics derived from the heart, her songs tap into a vulnerable space grappling with feeling lost and in hopes of being seen.
Lourde Childs is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and contemporary recording artist from Phoenix, Arizona. His expressive and powerful voice, matched with his unique and declarative productions help cultivate his artistic image built on independence, love, and resilience. He is a versatile and dynamic performer that commands the stage to tell his story and to inspirationally impact the audience at every opportunity.
Lourde began writing and producing his own music at the age of 13 and released his first single “Call My Bluff,” followed by four additional singles; his song “Left On Read” was released due to popular demand on TikTok. His single “MIDNIGHTS” released in April 2024, and is the lead single of his debut EP coming out this summer 2024.
With the support and guidance of organizations including the Phoenix Conservatory of Music, Berklee City Music, and the CMA Foundation, Lourde Childs has performed at many, reputable venues and events, including the 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards and at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston.
Twenty-one-year-old Advaitha is a singer-songwriter who uses her soulful dark R&B and trap soul-infused music to convey the emotions experienced in the daily lives of many. Citing PARTYNEXTDOOR, Rihanna, and Travis Scott as some of her primary influences, Advaitha creates a mind-opening experience for each of her listeners as “music is more than just what you hear, but what you feel.”
She has performed at esteemed venues in both Singapore and Boston, including Singapore’s Music Day Out Festival and A.I.R Boston’s annual Culture Nights Festival. Advaitha won her first award in the “New Kid On the Block” category at the Singaporean Youth Music Awards in 2020. In August of 2021, Advaitha released her first single “2 ON 2” under her distro deal with Universal Music Group. Currently, Advaitha is an undergraduate student at Berklee where she is collaborating with fellow students and artists to bring her music to the live stage.
Zara, an Armenian-Canadian singer-songwriter, captivated audiences with her exceptional musical talent from a very young age. She was the youngest contestant on the Quebec television talent show “Star Académie” and has released five singles. Zara is now preparing to release her highly anticipated debut EP – a fusion of pop, jazz, and indie/folk influences that showcases her unique creativity.
Niké is a singer-songwriter from the Czech Republic. Combining her love for jazz-influenced existential soul-pop and a passion for deep meaningful conversations, she writes music that brings people a piece of home. In addition to performing with her own band, she actively writes music for other artists.
Mehrpouya is an Iranian clarinetist and Kamancheh player who is influenced by the music of Iran’s classical music, which is based on microtonal intervals. He blends this musical background into Western jazz and fusion, creating a unique sound. In Mehrpouya’s music, you can hear Middle Eastern melodies combined with jazz and fusion elements, making it truly global. He has toured with internationally renowned musicians, including Edward Perez, Kayhan Kalhor, and Ehsan Matoori.
Makena Tate is an Indie Pop/Rock artist heavily influenced by Fleetwood Mac and Del Water Gap. Her dynamic, impressive vocals weave a spell over audiences, while her lyrics and melodies paint vivid stories, all beautifully unfold in her spell-binding live performances. Performing throughout California, Massachusetts, and New York, Makena will be found later this year performing at North x Northeast and LAUNCH Music Festival and Conference. As her sophomore EP releases in June 2024, Makena is eager to share her new music in hopes of leaving a lasting imprint on listeners.
