Celtics celebrate their 18th NBA title with the duck boat parade
Cue The Duck Boats! The Celtics Championship Parade took place on Friday, June 21st starting at The Hub on Causeway, adjacent to TD Garden. Twenty-five duck boats were loaded up with players, their families, coaches, and staff as they waved and interacted with fans while hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy into the air. The 2024 Celtics parade marked the 13th time in 23 years that these iconic duck boats have been used in a professional sports championship celebration – the first was in 2002 when the New England Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVI. The procession passed by City Hall and Boston Common before making its way down Boylston Street, in front of Prudential Center’s Boylston street entrance, and coming to a stop at the Hynes Convention Center. In total, the two-mile parade, which lasted about 90 minutes, brought 1.5 million visitors to the city in a sea of a Celtic’s green. Riding the wave of celebration, Dick’s House of Sport featured fan apparel alongside athlete appearances from Al Horford and Derrick White on Sunday, June 23rd, while View Boston offered an $18 ticket special.
For all of the NBA Finals home games, the North Side of Prudential Tower lit “Go C’s” in support of the Celtics; and on the day of the parade, the Pru illuminated the City skyline with the number “18” in honor of the Celtics 18th NBA Championship.
